Dot to Dot quilting uses the points in the quilt’s piecing as starting and ending points for quilting lines. It is a geometric style of quilting that often echoes or emphasizes existing shapes in the piecing. It can be done with a ruler on the longarm or domestic or with a walking foot on the domestic.

The Free Motion Echo Quilting Foot is designed to give you more control when free motion quilting. The large base ensures good surface contact with the fabric and provides better control of the stitching. The transparent base allows for 360° visibility.
Can you free motion quilt with a walking foot?
The foot is best reserved for straight-line machine quilting, including most stitch in the ditch methods and quilting large, gently curved lines. Use free-motion quilting techniques for intricate designs and tight curves. A walking foot can help you sew the binding to a quilt.
What stitch length should I use with a walking foot?
My favorite, most used stitch length is 1.5 mm for walking foot quilting. This is the setting I use for piecing too, so it’s become a routine to sit down at my machine and immediately adjust the stitch length down to this setting.
What stitch length should I use for stitch in the ditch?
By piecing with a tight stitch length of 1.5 mm, you will lock your pieces together so securely, even if the needle comes down exactly right, it’s not going to create a hole in your quilt because of all the other stitches holding the pieces together.
