Children aged 17 and under are admitted free of charge into all enclosures of the racecourse (except for the Winning Post and Edinburgh Gin Garden), every race day at Chester – when accompanied by a full-paying responsible adult.
What do ladies wear to Chester races?
Ladies are required to wear smart dress. No denim jeans of any colour, no trainers, no shorts, no sportswear and no fancy dress will be permitted. For gentlemen a collar is required, either polo shirt or collared shirt.

A moderate amount of alcohol may be brought into the Car Park Picnic Area with food to consume. Unfortunately we do not permit alcohol into the Open Course on foot or through any pedestrian gates. All alcohol must be consumed in the Car Park Picnic Area before entering the Open Course.
Can you take your own drinks to Chester races?
Racegoers are permitted to bring their own food and soft drinks into this area, although you will find a number of refreshment vendors on site. Chester Bet and racecard vendors are also located out on the Open Course, however there isn’t an ATM, so we advise you to bring cash with you.
Can I wear jeans to the races?
You can wear jeans to the races although this does depend on what stand of the racecourse you are in. If you are based in a formal meeting or in the main grandstand then we would definitely advise you to not wear jeans.

Can you pay at gate at Chester Racecourse?
A: General Admission Access will include access to the County Lawn, Tattersalls, Dee Stand and dedicated zone in the Paddock to allow viewing of the Parade Ring. Unfortunately the Open Course is currently closed and all attendees, including children must purchase a General Admission or hospitality ticket.
